NANTES - SAINT-NAZAIRE - ANCENIS - ANGERS - NANTES

Day 1: NANTES – SAINT-NAZAIRE December 28, 2016

Passengers are welcome to board our ship in Nantes between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. After comfortably settling into your cabins, we’ll introduce our crew at a welcome cocktail. Tonight, we’ll enjoy dinner followed by entertainment and begin our cruise to Saint-Nazaire.

Day 2: NANTES – SAINT-NAZAIRE – NANTES December 29, 2016

All meals served on board. Join us for an excursion to the seaside town of Saint-Nazaire. We’ll begin our visit with the Escal’Atlantic, which ingeniously retraces the history of Norman and French ocean liners through a unique experience. Then, we’ll continue on to the Saint-Nazaire shipyard, one of the largest and well-renowned in Europe (You must reserve this excursion before your departure through your travel agent). A valid form of identification (passport) will be needed to access the site. In the afternoon, we’ll set out on an optional tour of Nantes (you must reserve this excursion before your departure through your travel agent). You’ll discover the small streets of the medieval Bouffay quarter and the beautiful Flamboyant-style exterior of the Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul. We’ll visit the île Feydeau and its exceptional buildings dating back to the 18th century, as well as the quays. After, you’ll discover the shopping districts created in the 18th century around the Théâtre Graslin and the Passage Pommeraye. We'll return on board in Nantes. Tonight’s dinner will be followed by an evening of dancing on board and we’ll remain in port overnight.

Day 3: SAINT-NAZAIRE – ANCENIS December 30, 2016

All meals served on board. We’ll begin to cruise early in the morning, spend the morning on the river, and arrive in Ancenis in the early afternoon. Feel free to join us for an excursion to the Muscadet region. We’ll pass through several villages that are testimony to the strong winegrowing identity in the region. We’ll continue toward La Chapelle Heulin and stop at the Château Cassemichère (or similar site). This exceptional site invites you to discover its history-filled vineyards, visit its cellars and taste the dry, light, fruity and aromatic wine. Then we’ll leave for Clisson, a charming medieval city with 15th-century vestiges and a slight Italian feel. Following our tour, we’ll return to the boat After dinner this evening, join us for an evening of entertainment on board. We’ll remain in port overnight.

Day 4: ANCENIS – THE LOIRE VALLEY CHâTEAUX – BOUCHEMAINE December 31, 2016

All meals served on board. Today will be dedicated to a full day’s excursion to the Châteaux of the Loire Valley. We’ll leave by coach for the Château d'Azay-le-Rideau. Built on a small island in the middle of the Indre River, the château as it is seen today was built under Francis I by Gilles Berthelot, a wealthy financier who wanted to incorporate its medieval past alongside the latest architectural styles of the Italian renaissance. The chateau is a French national monument and possesses all the refinement found in the French Renaissance. We’ll continue on to Chinon, where you’ll discover an ancient underground quarry that has been transformed into a wine cellar. As we stroll through the impressive tunnels, you’ll learn about the secrets of the most renowned Chinon wines. We'll finish with a wine tasting. After lunch, we’ll visit the Château de Chinon. Overlooking the town, the castle was the site of key events involving the Hundred Years’ War between England and France. We’ll return to the ship in Bouchemaine. To ring in the New Year, this evening’s dinner will be served with wine and a glass of Champagne! We’ll remain in port overnight.

Day 5: BOUCHEMAINE - Angers – NANTES January 1, 2017

All meals served on board. Come with us on an excursion to Angers. Angers was the capital of the historical Anjou province and is distinguished not only by its legacy, but also by its modern nature. We’ll also visit La Doutre, a village-like neighborhood in the heart of the city. We’ll return on board in Chalonnes-sur-Loire and continue to cruise towards Nantes. We’ll spend the afternoon cruising. Tonight will be our gala dinner and evening, and we’ll remain in port overnight.

Day 6: NANTES January 2, 2017

Enjoy one last buffet breakfast on board before disembarking around 10:00 a.m.

For navigational safety reasons, the company and the captain are the only authorized persons who can modify the cruise itinerary. The cruise schedule may vary according to tides and arrival times at ports of call; the order of the visits may be subject to change. Alcohol can be dangerous to your health. Please drink in moderation. Wine is included with New Year’s Eve dinner.

valid passport compulsory. Non-EU nationals are advised to consult their embassy or consulate. Please note: Your passport must be valid for six months beyond the last day of your travels.
